Mrs Early’s Update
This has been an action packed first term with exciting learning activities and enrichment. We have been particularly involved in ongoing extracurricular sporting competitions and this week we took part in two events; a girl’s football match against Pembury which resulted in a 1-1 finish and then National League tournament with a mixed team as well as a girl’s team where we were placed second! Congratulations to all the children involved!
As a school, we have a really strong reading culture and encourage children to develop a love of reading. Our reading suitcases are particularly popular. This week EYFS welcomed a librarian from Paddock Wood Library who visited the children to tell them about books they can find in the library and talked about their favourite books. Next module, classes will be carrying out library visits and we also have a well-known author called Cath Howe coming to visit KS2 on 8th November.
Please do encourage your child to continue reading during the half term break. If you are wondering about what kinds of books your child might like to read, have a look for ideas on this website based on the theme of Autumn.
Cath Howe also has a website where you can find out more about her books. I know children have been reading them already!
Art & Photography Competition!
I am also launching an exciting art and photography competition based on the theme of Autumn for a display in school. There will be winners announced with prizes too! Children can either use their creative art skills or submit an inspiring Autumn photograph. Please send in any entries by Friday 10th November.
Finally, thank you for all your support this term in my first term at Paddock Wood. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and it has also been great to meet many of you at the Parent Consultations this week.
I would also like to thank the staff in particular for all their hard work and commitment to the school.
I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable half term break and I look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 6th November.

PWPA Football Teams
PWPA took two teams to the Tonbridge Angels National League Trust tournament on Thursday. There were schools from across the Tonbridge district in the tournament and both teams were awesome throughout the day, earning themselves spots in their respective finals. The mixed team game went down to the wire with the result coming down to a penalty shootout which was sadly lost 2-0. The girls match finished at 3-1 to the opposition but Darcia did score an amazing goal from just beyond the halfway line. Well done to everyone who took part – you should all be so proud of yourselves (see photo above).
Girls’ Football
It’s been a busy week for the girls football team. On Monday, they played against Pembury School. It was an extremely close match with the girls pulling ahead at the beginning of the second half but a last minute equaliser from Pembury meant the score at the final whistle was 1-1. Well done to all of the girls who played, you were brilliant – bring on the next match.
